Clinical Peer Leader Networks Support Advanced Clinical Use and Patient-Centred Digital Health Solutions

(Toronto) – Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) is pleased to announce the next wave of Clinical Peer Leader Networks (Networks) in Canada, developed to help health care professionals implement digital health solutions in their respective communities.

As part of Infoway’s clinical engagement strategy, this new funding will help clinicians achieve greater value for their practices and patients through advanced clinical e-functions and adoption of patient e-services. OntarioMD (a subsidiary of the Ontario Medical Association) and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) are first to be officially on board with more to follow.

This initiative builds on successful peer networks that covered 11 jurisdictions, with over 500 physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other peer leaders engaged more than 33,000 of their peers in fostering effective use of technology in practice. It also complements ongoing Faculty Peer Leader Networks, which support educators in preparing future clinicians to practice in a technology-enabled environment.

“Investments in initiatives like the Clinical Peer Leader Networks continue to advance the required clinical leadership to practice in the digital age,” said Maureen Charlebois, Chief Nursing Executive & Group Director, Clinical Adoption, Canada Health Infoway. “With the focus on advanced clinical use and patient-centred digital health solutions, I look forward to seeing the impact these Networks will have in transforming clinical practice and improving patient care in Canada.”

In addition to the resources available through the online Pan-Canadian Clinical Peer Network Community, Infoway also offers access to helpful information to further advance digital health through a new toolkit developed in collaboration with a group of clinical peer leaders. The toolkit includes a number of resources and tools, as well as information to support peer leaders who are new to the Network.
