Canada Health Infoway Welcomes the Government of Québec’s Continued Commitment to ePrescribing in the Province

Toronto, ON — July 17, 2026 — Canada Health Infoway is pleased to support the Government of Québec, Santé Québec and their partners as they continue the rollout of Prescription Québec, an initiative that enables prescribers to transmit medication prescriptions and related clinical information electronically and securely to community pharmacists.

Canada Health Infoway Welcomes the Government of Québec’s Continued Commitment to ePrescribing in the Province

Built on the digital prescribing infrastructure established through the PrescribeIT® platform, Prescription Québec supports faster, safer and more efficient communication between prescribers and pharmacists, while helping reduce risks associated with paper- and fax-based processes.

Through the agreement between Santé Québec and Canada Health Infoway, Québec can maintain existing services and move forward with the next phase of Prescription Québec, which is already in use in various settings across the province. This continued work supports Québec’s broader efforts to modernize care delivery and improve the experience of patients and healthcare professionals.

Through Quebec’s leadership and broader digital transformation in electronic prescribing, the project will help strengthen the quality, safety and efficiency of prescription management by reducing reliance on faxes and enabling more secure electronic prescription exchange.

Canada Health Infoway remains committed to working constructively with Québec and other jurisdictions and partners to support the next phase of ePrescribing, including through the national open standards model. This approach builds on the foundation established through PrescribeIT® and supports jurisdictions in advancing solutions aligned with their own priorities, while maintaining consistent and secure prescription exchange between prescribers and pharmacists.
