Canada Health Infoway Announces 2025 Clinical Student Scholarships for Digital Health Education Programs in Canada

The Connected Care Clinical Student Scholarship is an initiative from the Infoway Centre for Clinical Innovation in Digital Health (CIDH), which supports national efforts to accelerate the adoption of healthcare interoperability.

This scholarship offers up to $3,000 per student to help clinical learners offset the costs of enrolling in digital health educational programs at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution. Eligible programs may cover a range of topics, including interoperability, terminology and data exchange standards, electronic health records and health information systems, AI in healthcare, digital health innovation, healthcare data analytics, digital health policy and other areas that support the goals outlined in Infoway’s Shared Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap (Roadmap).

“This program is about preparing the next generation of clinical learners to drive real change,” said Krista Balenko, Vice President of Enablement and Operations at Canada Health Infoway. “By investing in future health care professionals trained right here in Canada, we’re not only addressing today’s frontline needs, but also laying the foundation for a more connected, sustainable, and patient-centered health system.”

To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in or have graduated within the past five years from a clinical program at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution. The scholarship is also open to those currently participating in a clinical residency, fellowship, or clinical placement within Canada. Eligible clinical learners interested in applying for the Connected Care Clinical Student Scholarship can visit here to learn more and submit their application. Applications will be accepted now until September 23, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. E.T. Successful recipients will be notified in November.

Aligned with Infoway’s Roadmap, the Connected Care Clinical Student Scholarship is part of a broader initiative from the CIDH to ensure digital health solutions are designed to meet the needs of frontline healthcare providers, ultimately improving patient care and strengthening the resilience of Canada’s healthcare system for years to come. By empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to drive interoperability and innovation, this scholarship supports their educational journey while playing a vital role in advancing Connected Care and cultivating the next generation of healthcare leaders in Canada.
