In the summer of 2021, Canada Health Infoway commissioned a scan to build on a growing body of work focused on innovation and health care in Canada and was focused on understanding the current state of health care innovation across the country. A total of 47 distinct organizations across Canada were interviewed. The organizations include, federal, provincial and regional health jurisdictions; large acute-care hospitals; health care innovation hubs/labs; industry associations; Innovation accelerators and incubators; and innovation clusters.
In this session, Infoway will discuss the results of this scan and provide a summary of the conclusions of the scan: how innovation is defined, approaches to measurement alignment across innovation, economic and health outcomes measures, approaches to inclusion of these innovation approaches with Indigenous organizations and communities, and considerations on procurement of Canadian innovations.
