Description:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Network is a province-wide Drug Information System (DIS) that offers comprehensive real-time medication profiles, and an interactive database to assist pharmacists in identifying potential adverse drug interactions and events. This report highlights the results of assessed inappropriate medication use in the Pharmacy Network by profiling the Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) in terms of which are most/least common across sex, health region and age group, as well as, how pharmacists manage DURs and its appropriate alerts. The results show the Pharmacy Network and its DURs were a time-consuming process; however, the pharmacists believe in its potential.
