Join us to learn about the classifications used for ambulatory and acute care data collection in Canada, ICD-10-CA (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems Tenth, Revision, Canada), and CCI (Canadian Classification of Health Interventions). This beginner level education session is designed for anyone interested in becoming familiar with these classifications and their use.
During this session participants will be introduced to:
- What a statistical classification is, how it is used in Canada, and how it differs from a terminology
- Overview of the history and structure of the two classifications used in acute and ambulatory care in Canada, ICD-10-CA and CCI
- A demonstration of searching within the classifications
- How the data collected provides meaningful information in CIHI reporting
