Newfoundland and Labrador Establishing Provincial Telepathology Network

September 11, 2014 (St. John's) - The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (the Centre) has partnered with GE Healthcare to install a province-wide Telepathology Network. The $2.5 million Telepathology Network, jointly funded by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada Health Infoway (Infoway), will give patients and pathologists across the province greater access to pathology services and support.

September 10, 2014 (Toronto) – Nine in ten Canadians want to be able to e-book health care appointments and clinicians are listening! Licensed physicians and nurse practitioners who signed up for the Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) e-Booking Initiative between April 2, 2014 and June 30, 2014 care for nearly 700,000 Canadians. Based on the success of the original e-Booking Initiative, Infoway is launching wave two on October 15, 2014. 

Infoway Awards Teams for Developing Quality Plans to Help Accelerate Value of Digital Health

August 21, 2014 (Toronto) – Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) is pleased to announce the recipients of the ImagineNation e-Connect Impact Challenge Quality Plan Award. Independent judges selected teams from across the country based on their plans to analyze and improve the quality and use of digital solutions that connect health care providers with their patients and with each other. They scored each plan based on a set of criteria including quality assessment, track record, plan strength and feasibility.

May 26, 2014 (Thunder Bay, ON) – When Radiation Oncologist Dr. Margaret Anthes travelled to her family cottage in Parry Sound last summer, she did what most people do on vacation: swimming, sailing and visiting with family and friends. Canadian Nurses Poised for Digital Health Leadership

First-ever quantitative survey of Canadian nurses explores access, usage and impact on practice

May 15, 2014 (Toronto) – An inaugural survey* undertaken jointly by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) reveals that 83 per cent of Canadian nurses are comfortable using digital health tools in practice and approximately three-quarters feel digital health tools could improve continuity of care (78 per cent) and patient safety (72 per cent).

Ryerson Nursing Student Recognized for Digital Health Leadership

May 2, 2014 (Toronto) – Ryerson University nursing student Patricia Yu Howatt began her placement at a community-based hospice that was spearheading the development of a pediatric hospice in 2012. In the eight months she spent there, she supported the creation and collection of resources and content for unique digital resources for staff, pediatric patients and their families, including an improved website with links to palliative care services, bereavement support programs as well as online referral forms to streamline the admission process.

New initiative supports eligible physicians and nurses to improve patient experience

March 19, 2014 (Toronto) – Patients of eligible clinics who participate in Canada Health Infoway’s (Infoway) new e-Booking Initiative will soon be able to book appointments online or with a mobile device. Nine in ten Canadian adults surveyed say that they would likely use this type of service if available; and research summarized in a recent Infoway white paper shows that e-booking offers many potential benefits including improved productivity, fewer appointment no-shows, and enhanced patient and staff satisfaction.
