Alberta has launched MyHealth, a patient portal that gives Albertans access to health care information, online tools and wellness tips.
Topics covered include medications, medical tests and health alerts. A symptom checker helps patients decide whether to go to the emergency room or to see their own family doctor. Patients can also use the provincial wait times reporting website to view wait times for emergency rooms, surgery, specific tests and scans.
The MyHealth portal complements Netcare, the province’s electronic health record (EHR) system, an invaluable tool for physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other health care providers who make up the province’s circle of care.
Susan Anderson, executive director of the Information Management Branch, Alberta Health and Wellness, talks about Netcare, MyHealth, the wait times website and benefits for patients.
