Canadians want better access to health care and services and they are keen to go online, from their mobile phones or other devices, to view lab test results and other personal health information. They also want to use e-services that make health care more convenient, such as e-booking of appointments and virtual visits with their doctors. Canadians who have this kind of access feel more in control of their health and better able to manage their conditions.
Infoway is committed to working with our partners to improve access because we know that when patients are empowered in this way, it leads to better health outcomes and helps create a more sustainable health system.
Our 2020-2021 Summary Corporate Plan — essentially our business plan for the coming fiscal year — outlines how we will collaborate with patients, clinicians, industry and our federal, provincial and territorial government partners, to make progress toward achieving these goals. Under the umbrella of our two key initiatives — ACCESS Health and PrescribeIT® — we will focus on our shared priorities in: virtual care; mental health and addictions; long term care, including palliative care; better care for Indigenous Peoples; and safer access to medications.
We have set specific performance expectations for 2020-2021 in each of these areas, and they won’t be easy to achieve. But we know that by bringing together all of the relevant players, we can make progress on building a modern, 21st century health system that will be a source of pride for all Canadians.
