We are all well aware of the core challenges facing Canada’s health care system: lack of an integrated and patient-centred system; the need to achieve sustainability through improved efficiency and value-for-money; and the need to share knowledge to improve services and system management.
But how do we fix these “cracks” before our system is beyond repair?
At Infoway, we believe digital health solutions can enable the transformations that need to happen. And we believe that our organization is uniquely positioned to advance collaboration on health innovation and encourage the adoption of new digital health technology.
With that in mind, we have outlined three ambitious, yet achievable goals in our 2016-2017 Summary Corporate Plan:
- Establish a multi-jurisdiction e-prescribing solution to facilitate better, safer and more appropriate prescription drug use;
- Scale proven, patient-centred digital health solutions – such as patient online services and telehomecare – to empower patients and deliver access, quality and efficiency benefits; and
- Continue to leverage the foundational investments we and our partners have made over the years – in electronic medical records, telehealth, public health surveillance, and the core elements of an electronic health record – to support more seamless health services and better informed care.
We look forward to working with our many partners to achieve our goals for 2016-2017 and deliver the next wave of digital health innovation that will truly empower Canadians, improve health, transform quality and reduce health system costs.
