Certification Services

From 2009, Infoway oversaw a national certification program to review and certify digital health solutions for conformity to privacy, security and interoperability requirements to promote and protect Canadians’ personal health information. This service delivered value and efficiencies for jurisdictions and vendors alike as the harmonized requirements reduced testing redundancy. Recently, Infoway completed a review of the certification program and confirmed that many of the markets the program served are now mature (DI, EMR, consumer health). The existing certification program has fulfilled its mandate, and as a result, will no longer be accepting new applications. We will continue to recognize vendor solutions that have received and maintained certification, but gap assessments and upgrades will no longer be available.

As Infoway collaborates with its key stakeholders to improve digital health interoperability in Canada, we will be initiating a vendor mobilization strategy to assess the need and value for industry testing tools as well as interoperability-focused conformance and certification services. Certified Products

These products have successfully completed the certification process by demonstrating compliance with all relevant pre-implementation certification assessment criteria. The Infoway Mark of Conformity may be applied to these products and they may be promoted as compliant with relevant pan-Canadian standards.

Note that the “certified” designations associated with the products listed below:

  • Apply only to the product that is listed and only to that version of the product
  • Are based on conformance to pan-Canadian and international standards and norms and do not necessarily reflect jurisdiction-specific requirements (e.g., provincial privacy legislation)
  • Do not assess product usability
  • Are relevant to pre-implementation certification only – the assessment criteria represent only broad and basic capabilities criteria that may not be sufficiently comprehensive in an operational context
