Canada Health Infoway is growing to support the deployment and delivery of new models of care in healthcare. Aligning with the movement towards conformity tested healthcare capabilities, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Systems Analyst with excellent understanding and hands on experience in discovery, analysis, implementation and integration of standards based, distributed healthcare applications.


Position Purpose

The focus of this role is successful engagement with Provinces, Territories and partner organizations to lead and support their integration efforts into frameworks providing efficient, robust, scalable, and secure solutions that implement standards-based business requirements.

The Systems Analyst will have hands on responsibilities for preparing and leading engagement workshops, coordination, and guidance of technical connectivity events, involving a vast array of stakeholders. This includes planning, communication, presentations, and hands on supervision of connectivity events with jurisdictional and technology partners.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Sr. Director, Solutions Management and Advisory Services, part of the Virtual Care team and working closely with a highly collaborative team comprised of our business, standards and software development teams to ensure the successful growth and deployment of our virtual care specifications.

The ideal candidate has very strong analytical skills, product development experience, excellent presentation and communication skills, some experience with Health IT Standards (e.g. HL7, IHE, SNOMED, LOINC, etc.) an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, leading discovery, requirements definition sessions and events
  • Facilitate workshops and industry events that support interoperability testing
  • Work within and collaborate with cross-functional team to specify and operate integration environments
  • Provide support, as part of a team, to supervise and guide technical connectivity events and release management
  • Define and communicate content to educate and inform our stakeholders
  • Provide support to the Product Owner to ensure successful growth and deployment of our virtual care specifications
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time


  • Post secondary degree in a related field from a recognized institution

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in product development and system analysis, with knowledge of / experience with Health IT Standards (e.g., HL7, IHE, SNOMED, LOINC, etc.)
  • Experience with system integrations documentation and sandbox environments guides and software reference manuals
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with a positive attitude to thrive in a high-production customer focused environment
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in terms of speaking, explaining and articulating requirements and other information to external stakeholders
  • Highly organized and disciplined, capable of working independently and in close collaboration within the team
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficient analytical skills to estimate size, analyze data, diagnose, and solve problems
  • Strong team player and willingness to take on new challenges with keen attention to detail
  • Intimate, working knowledge of applicable Health IT standards is an asset
  • Experience working with vendor partners (e.g., EMR, HIS, etc.) is an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet constantly changing timelines
  • Experience working in an organization that utilizes agile, scrum or extreme programming is an asset
  • Bilingualism (French and English) an asset

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Systems Analyst or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a customer facing role, preferably in a lead position
  • Experience in standards-based product development a definite asset
  • Experience in product representation at industry events an asset
