Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Denis Gauthier is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the corporation.
He provides strategic alignment and integration of operational activities, governance and due diligence processes, major process improvement initiatives and operational tactics to translate Infoway objectives into results. Denis joined Infoway after a long and successful career with the federal government where he held a number of senior posts, including Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic Development and Corporate Finance at Finance Canada, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Information, Analysis and Connectivity at Health Canada. As part of his responsibilities, he was the main policy advisor on economic development measures for 12 federal budgets. Throughout his public service, he played an integral role in shaping policies for agriculture, infrastructure, transport, science and technology, energy, natural resources and the environment. He was deeply involved in advancing an innovation agenda, developing initiatives to support Canada’s economic recovery, and creating the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Canada Health Infoway and PPP Canada.
Denis received his bachelor’s degree in economics from l’Université de Montréal, and his master’s and PhD in economics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In 2013, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contribution to economic policy-making in Canada.
