Laboratory pan-Canadian Standards Group (Lab pCSG)

Overview

Common Laboratory (Lab) messaging and terminology standards and interoperability profiles are critical to achieving Infoway's goal of an interoperable pan-Canadian Electronic Health Record. To accelerate the establishment and the adoption of Laboratory pan-Canadian Standards, Infoway has initiated the Laboratory pan-Canadian Standards Project (Lab Standards Project).

The purpose of the Lab Standards Project is to establish pan-Canadian message and nomenclature standards.

The goal of this project is to ensure that information contained within a lab test or lab result is standardized, thus enabling semantic interoperability of clinical information. The Laboratory pan-Canadian Standards Group (Lab pCSG) will be tasked with reviewing and validating business requirements as well laboratory messaging, terminology standards and interoperability profiles to ensure they reflect pan-Canadian requirements.
