Patient Access to Quality Care
Providing Canadians with timely access to quality care is an essential element in Canada's health care transformation.
To address this, investments made through Infoway's Patient Access to Quality Care (PAQC) program will leverage electronic health information technologies that are already in place to improve patient access to care.
One particularly unique feature of PAQC is the focus on clinical transformation and an emphasis on sustainable approaches that can be replicated across care settings and across the jurisdictions. Deploying technology solutions that are standards-based and integrate with the electronic health infostructure is another important objective of PAQC.
The majority of program funds target projects that demonstrate improved patient access to quality care through increased capacity-building or reduction in wait times. Chronic disease management, patient portals, and e-referral initiatives are examples of projects that have been earmarked under this program.
